An ominous break-in marks the beginning of the spectacular DOTZ video in which the newly built DOTZ DD1 BMW E92 is both object of desire and protagonist. The story about a crime of passion owes it all to a perfect choreography and many small and big helpers.

At the outset, there was modification. The DD1 – steeled by numerous rides on drift tracks, show events and exhibition halls – underwent a facelift at the beginning of the year.DOTZ Drift 1 The Break-In Making of Artikelbild 02

The matching background for the moving images around the DD1 was easy to find: the brick building charm of the DOTZ site warehouses in Hirtenberg. DOTZ Drift 1 The Break-In Making of Artikelbild 10

In an effort to realise a sensational light show, the 20-member DOTZ team worked through a total of four nights. Naturally, the nocturnal shoot was accompanied by a massive use of artificial light, requiring 70 kW of power. Also present were 2x12 kW brute lights, 20-m boom lifts, 40 Par64 lamps and roughly 200 neon tubes, which enabled the lighting effects thanks to their elaborate and well-thought-out placement. Smoke places another important role in the video, generated not only by the tyres in drift mode, but also Bengal lights and Holi powder, as known from the Hindu festival of colours. DOTZ Drift 1 The Break-In Making of Artikelbild 09
In order to capture the impressive drift scenes of the newly designed DD1 in all their dynamic three drones were hovering in the air and following drifter Dominic Tiroch’s breakout – two Red Dragon pursuit drones and one camera drone. A GoPro rig was used to capture additional, breath-taking images of the drift through the company premises. DOTZ Drift 1 The Break-In Making of Artikelbild 05
The complete oeuvre, the one-of-its-kind “Break-In” video has been available since the end of March 2017.
